Leadership Mentoring

Leaders learn through direct experience and the advice of others. While Leadership Coaches are helpful, Mentors can be role models that provide guidance on what future leaders can aspire to. A mentoring relationship may last for years compared to a coaching relationship which should only last for months.

Mentorship can be the most effective way to build leadership skills.

Many leaders may have completed leadership training both online and face to face but there is no better way to learn than doing it; putting the skills learnt into practice. You often find that many of the issues or challenges that you may be facing are like those that, other more senior leaders, have already overcome.

Mentoring is effective at building leadership skills because the mentor is a role model and a teacher. Through active 1-on-1 conversations, mentees uncover areas where they need to improve their leadership skills, and with the help of their mentor, they can identify and grow these skills and follow in their footsteps.

Retention:

Promoting employees internally to leadership positions has many benefits, including better retention rates. According to a LinkedIn Report, 41% of employees are more likely to stay if there are internal opportunities for the future.
