Becoming an employer of overseas workers
Tuesday 2nd November 2021,

The Covid-19 pandemic has put unprecedented pressures on the UK health and social care system. Recruitment is one of the biggest challenges facing the sector at the moment and employers need to make sure they are looking at all options to maximise recruitment opportunities, this includes considering workers from outside of the UK.
In response to these recruitment challenges Activate Learning has developed two bridging programmes for overseas healthcare professionals to prepare them to seek employment in the UK.
We are pleased to invite you to an information webinar where we will explore the process of overseas recruitment and the governments Sponsorship Licence as well as the bridging programmes available from Activate Learning.

Julia’s educational and research profile spans over 20 years, demonstrating a commitment to the development of academic nursing, ensuring the delivery of knowledge in a meaningful way. Julia is currently a Senior Lecturer and Academic Lead for Nursing Research, where through research and educational innovation, a caring and compassionate undergraduate nurse, can be prepared for qualified practice.
Julia’s main area of clinical interests lies within colo-rectal nursing. Having worked as a specialist and lead nurse for many years, Julia now makes a contribution to research with a focus on understanding patient experiences within this specialist field. Julia's recent doctoral studies sought to define knowledge and skills translation within specialist nursing practice. Using a qualitative approach, this work identified the possession of specialist knowledge and skills, but a lack of emotional intelligence, in order to translate it in a manner comprehensible to the patient.
Julia is currently a Module Leader for three research modules within the nursing programmes, at level 5, 6 and 7 offered at Bucks New University. These modules introduce students to approaches in research, enabling them to demonstrate critical thinking and an understanding of the research process. Julia’s role also includes dissertation supervision for both undergraduate and postgraduate nursing students. She currently undertakes activities within the University: Chair of Research Forum for the School of Nursing and Allied Health and a Panel member for the Ethic committee. Julia is also an External examiner for University of Hull, Consultant Editor for Gastrointestinal Nursing Journal (GIN) and an Editorial board member for British Journal of Nursing (BJN).

Improving Organisational Resilience in Social Care and Health Research In Practice with University of Bedfordshire
Objectives of project: To provide leaders and managers in social care and health with an accessible, research-informed diagnostic tool and associated workbook to understand, build and sustain organisational resilience.
Project details: The project has been commissioned by Health Education England and the Buckinghamshire Health and Social Care Academy. It is being conducted by The University of Bedfordshire and Research in Practice, a charity that supports the implementation of Evidence Informed Practice in children and families and adult social care.
Background: Dr Louise Grant and Professor Gail Kinman, in collaboration with Research in Practice, have recently produced a framework for identifying the conditions that support organisational resilience and emotionally intelligent leadership. It is used extensively in social care organisations with considerable success. The framework has great potential to help leaders and managers in social care and health foster conditions that support resilience and wellbeing.
This project aims to:
a) Consider the applicability of the framework to social care and health settings by engaging with senior leaders and managers.
b) Adjust and refine the framework to be relevant to social care and health settings.
c) Test the applicability of the framework to specific social care and health settings.
Benefits for organisations and individuals: joining this project will give you the opportunity to co-produce the new framework and ensure that it is relevant for your organisation and staff. You will also receive training in key strategies that support organisational resilience and wellbeing that will benefit your organisation.
